Never have I been more excited for a family beach portrait session! When my all time favorite family messaged me to schedule their annual session I was beyond excited. See, I just moved to Florida. The idea of never seeing my clients who have become friends and basically family over the last 10 years was the hardest reality I’ve had to face over the last 8 months. I won’t even bore you with how many times I’ve cried over the months…. So hearing from these beautiful people gave me the emotional boost I needed. Soul restored. Now to the funny part. Mr. Lucas and I have a relationship worth noting. He loves me personally but he hates my camera. Actually he hates everyone’s camera. I met him when he was barely 2 weeks old and well he slept the entire time and was a rock star. He pretty much rocked his entire first year too. Then. It. Happened. Cameras did NOT do it for him. So many tears, hiding, barely ever a smile, etc… We got used to it. You never stop taking the photos. Ever. Because look here. Miss Tracey moves to sunny FLA and Lucas LOVES THE BEACH! Recipe for awesome. Upon meeting them outside the entrance to the Naples Pier, we exchanged hugs then the look of “I know, what ever happens, happens.” Meaning the show goes on no matter what he is going to think of this camera. Well it should be obvious now that my camera is ok and this handsome stinker put on a show. Don’t think the 3 of us will ever forget it. It’s captured forever now and for the first time in years, Vicky will have too many to choose from to print! hahaha. This is truly the best session we’ve ever had and I’m over the moon and can’t wait to see them again when they make their way down to warm up each year. Until then, THANK YOU my dears for having me capture you once again. It’s a honor and a joy seeing your faces and making memories. I love you to pieces.
I must also comment on the Pier itself. Wow. Packed with one million people, yikes. However the stunning part that Mother Nature played was worth each second of dodging people. Being on the East Coast for 10 years I really never saw the sun go down across the ocean. Only from a lake have I seen such beauty. This however didn’t even compare. Somehow watching the biggest fire ball disappear over the ocean like that gave me goose bumps. Turning around and seeing the moon was another spectacular sight. Especially with silhouetted palm trees. I seriously can’t believe I live here.
The lush florals and greenery outside the Pier entrance was just too pretty to pass up! A photographer is always prepared! So is a mom with a bribery item aka the Bumblebee mask. I told him I would take his photo with it on only if he smiled. The bugger smiled behind it. Kiddos….
This is how we do it. We laugh, we play, we get wet, we find shells, we throw them, we try our hardest to float a boat (lol) and we love each other. This is how it’s meant to be. I just capture it. xoxo
